چکیده

We have studied the charge capture and impact excitation processes in H+ on He+ collisions over a wide range of collision energies by solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation with the classical trajectory approximation for the projectile. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation is solved by the split-operator method with a generalized pseudospectral (nonuniform grid) method in the energy representation. The calculated charge capture cross sections are in good agreement with the available experimental measurements. Our calculated charge capture and impact excitation cross sections are also in reasonable agreement with various close-coupling calculations. Combined with time-dependent density functional theory, our Schrödinger equation method (time propagation) holds significant promise for studying many-electron processes in atom– ion collisions.

Direct excitations of He+ and Li++ ions by collisions with protons or antiprotons

The impact parameter formalism of the single-center close-coupling, first-, and second-order Born approximations have been applied to investigate direct excitations of Helium He+(2s) and Lithium Li++(2s) ions by colliding with protons or antiprotons. The total 3s, 3p, and 3d scaled excitation cross sections are calculated in the scaled impact energy region (2 to 1000 keV). The present work aims...

Water-molecule fragmentation induced by charge exchange in slow collisions with He+ and He2+ ions in the keV-energy region

Charge exchange and fragmentation in the collision systems He+H2O and He +H2O are theoretically investigated at projectile energies of a few keV. The calculations are based on the electron nuclear dynamics END method which solves the time-dependent Schrödinger equation. Total and differential cross sections for charge exchange are evaluated by averaging over 10 orientations of the H2O molecule....

EEDF MEASUREMENTS AND EXCITATION PROCESSES IN THE VICINITY OF A HELIUM DISCHARGE CONSTRICTION

Axial distributions of plasma and floating potentials, electron number density and the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) have been measured in the double layer (DL) region of an He discharge constriction. Excitation processes in the constriction region are studied. Using a linearization method for the nonstationary balance equations and choosing appropriate discharge conditions, ...

Quantum mechanical calculation of ejected electron spectra for ion–atom collisions

We present a quantum mechanical method for calculating the ejected electron probability distribution in ion–atom collisions. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation, formulated with a classical straight-line trajectory for the internuclear motion, is integrated directly on a two-centre momentum space grid. The time-dependent wavefunction at large internuclear separation is analysed to extract t...
